Editorial Policy — Invisichar
Invisichar is a free reference for invisible characters and blank text, and this editorial policy explains how the Invisichar Lab writes pages, how a character is tested in an app, and how results are recorded and rechecked. It is updated whenever our method changes.
Who writes the pages
All pages are written and reviewed by the Invisichar Lab. We do not use invented authors or credentials. Facts about Unicode come from the Unicode standard, and facts about an app come from our own test or from the app’s published rules, with the date.
How a character is checked
For each character we record its code point, name and category from Unicode. We also check, in a browser, whether the character stays in a text field and survives trimming. Those are measurements of our own page and are shown next to the character only when they exist.
How we record whether it works in an app
For each app, a character can be recorded as works, blocked, or not tested. A result is recorded only after someone on the lab has tried the character on a real device or account, together with the device, the app version and the date. If no one has tried it, the table shows a dash and the page says not tested yet.
- Works: the app accepted the character and kept it.
- Blocked: the app refused it or removed it.
- Not tested: we have no result, and we do not guess.
Retesting
Apps change what they accept, so a recorded result is rechecked when the app releases a new version or a reader reports a change, and at least every 90 days for the most visited pages.
What we will not publish
We do not teach spam, impersonation or ways around a platform’s moderation. Pages explain what a character is and where it is accepted, and they remind readers to follow each platform’s rules.
Changelog
Last test date: none yet. As of October 9, 2026 the lab has not yet recorded a test in an app, so every app shows as not tested. This section will list each test with its date, device, app version and result as soon as one is done.
Corrections
If you find a mistake or a result that is wrong, tell us on the contact page. We fix confirmed errors and update the page.
FAQ
Have you tested every character in every app?
No. We test what we can and clearly mark everything else as not tested.
How do you decide a character is blocked?
Only when an app refuses or removes it in a real try, and we record the version and date.
Where does the character information come from?
From the Unicode standard: code points, names and categories.
